In quest'ultimo ambito verranno esposte opere di Frank Lloyd Wright , Eric Lloyd Wright, John Lautner, Bruce Goff, Aaron Green, Don Erickson, Arthur Dyson, Ken Kellogg, Helena Arahuete e altri.

SFIA : Education in Organic and
Ecological Architecture
SFIA - San Francisco Institute of Architecture www.sfia.net One of the few schools dedicated to organic, nature-based, visionary, and ecological architecture. Our inspirations are Louis Sullivan, Frank Lloyd Wright, Bruce Goff and their proteges. Fred Stitt Architect, Director.
Our school, the San Francisco Institute of
Architecture, emphasises the values of organic architecture in every one of its
courses, exhibits, and speaker programs. Now we're expanding our program in the
eco realm. Starting in January, 2007, SFIA will
introduce a new schedule and dozens of new classes.
SFIA will no longer run on a limited, 12-week semester schedule. The school will
now be open on a year-round basis, so classes and workshops will be available
almost every week of the year.
Virtually every weekend SFIA will offer up to four one-day workshops. Evening
classes will be held as usual, two to three evenings a week. The variety of
classes and workshops will be greatly increased beyond anything previously
offered at SFIA or at any other design school.
All classes and workshops will be presented at a new facility we're helping to
improve at Aquatic Park in Berkeley.
Most of our regular, evening, 3- and 5-unit classes
will be accelerated on a six-week schedule, with only minor changes in content.
Weekend workshops will offer 1- and 2-day options, and will provide 1 unit of
academic credit per day. Tuition per unit of credit will remain low (lower in
some cases than ever before).
Our new schedule will allow students to greatly accelerate work toward
certificates or degrees but still allow flexibility in schedules, so no one
will be penalized for time out for travel, work, or family obligations. Evening
classes will be video-documented, to avoid time loss when a student has to be
away.
We're starting at our new location with the "Everything Eco" workshops we've
been presenting across the country. The workshops will include a new, all-day
program on Eco Retrofits -- to plan the greening of our new school facilities.
The workshops will be held January 12-13, 2007 at our new facility and are
now listed at the "Everything Eco" link at our
www.sfia.net Web site.
Evening classes -- T-1 Materials and Construction and the D-1 Studio will start
Monday, January 22, 2007. D-6 History of Design and D-13 Sketching, Drafting,
and Perspective will start Wednesday, January 24.
Weekend workshops will begin with Sketchup CAD and Passive Solar Design on
Saturday and Sunday, January 20-21, 2007, followed by Timber Woodworking,
Architectural Model Building, Bamboo Construction, VectorWorks CAD, Straw Bale,
and varieties of Earth Construction, through January and February. Rainwater &
Gray Water Reclamation, Wetlands, Green Roofs, Native Plantscaping, Photovoltaic,
Wind Power, Electric Vehicles, and dozens of other workshops will follow.
Each one-day weekend workshop will cost $100 and earn one academic unit of
credit. (Workshops will be repeated periodically for student convenience.)
The first new class announcements will be forthcoming by e-mail, at
www.sfia.net , and by postal flyer. Please
pass them on to whoever you think might be interested.
Best wishes, Fred Stitt , Director, SFIA

Where:
Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel
When:
May 30 - June 3, 2007
Mission:
Established in 1969, the Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) is an
international organization whose members include researchers, educators, and
professional practitioners in the fields of architecture, landscape architecture,
urban planning, and facility planning. EDRA’s mission is the advancement and
dissemination of design research with the goal of improving understanding of the
interrelationships between people, their built and natural surroundings, and
helping to create environments responsive to human needs. The annual conference
provides a forum for discussions, debates, and sharing of information and ideas
related to environmental design research, design, design education, and
professional practice. This is the largest national conference focusing on
evidence-based design as well as programming, master planning, and
post-occupancy evaluation. The conference attracts approximately 500 researchers,
educators, students, and practitioners from around the world, primarily the
United States.
Participation: Beginning with the gold rush, pony express and intercontinental railroad, Sacramento has been a leader in innovation. Today, Sacramento remains a leader in finding innovative ways to address social concerns such as rapid urban growth, diminishing community identity, transportation, and green building. We invite you to participate at EDRA38 and join in the many opportunities for learning, discussion, and networking through intensives, symposiums, workshops, presentations, network lunch meetings, tours and more. The EDRA38 conference hosts informative tracks on workplace design, children’s environments, urban planning, neighborhood development, environmental gerontology, nature and ecology, active living, educational environments, environmental health and more. EDRA is an AIA partner. All sessions provide AIA CEU credits.
For more information on the 2007 EDRA conference and to download the Call for Papers visit www.edra38.com <http://www.edra38.com>. Deadline for submissions is October 1, 2007.
Theme:
“Building Sustainable Communities”
Community is found and created in many different
places on many different scales. The 38th Annual Meeting of the
Environmental Design Research Association explores the many contexts and facets
of community and sustainability to better understand how we can design
environments that create and sustain strong, positive communities.
Speakers: Sim Van der Ryn is the keynote speaker for EDRA38. During his tenure as California State Architect, his vision and persuasive skills heralded a golden age of ecologically sensitive design and resulted in the adoption of strict energy standards and disability access standards for all state buildings and parks. As the author of six books on planning and design, including his recent book Design for Life, Van der Ryn has helped inspire architects to see the myriad ways they can apply physical and social ecology to architecture and environmental design. EDRA38 will also host plenary sessions, including speakers Susan Drucker and Gary Gumpert from the Urban Communication Foundation, Dr. Kathryn Anthony of University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and former President of the Royal British Institute of Architects, Dr. Francis Duffy.
EDRA invites you to join us at EDRA38!

FRIENDS OF KEBYAR
FRIENDS of KEBYAR
Friends of Kebyar - FOK ,
is an Oregon non-profit corporation and an international network of people interested in original and innovative architecture that is not “mainstream” - architecture that defies the tyranny of styles. We advocate creative and unusual solutions to the challenges facing today’s architects. Kebyar is a Balinese word literally meaning the process of flowering . It also designates a style in Balinese music and art connoting strength and vigor. Internationally famed architect Bruce Goff chose Kebyar as the name for a school of creative arts and architecture he was planning at the time of his death. The organization’s purposes are to advance Creative Organic Architecture, to bring attention to the works of original artists, and to nurture the spiritual endowment left by the architects that have preceded us who worked so hard to free their art from the indolent idioms of fashion and imbue it with new meaning, integrity, and respect for the natural environment.Introduction " FRIENDS of KEBYAR " by Sarno Architetti
