FRIENDS of KEBYAR

Una rete internazionale di architetti , artisti e altri che vogliono esplorare gli orizzonti creativi ed avventurosi oltre un mondo corporativo .
Gli Amici di Kebyar è una associazione senza scopo di lucro dell'Oregon e una rete internazionale della gente interessata all'architettura originale ed innovatrice che non è architettura accademica (corrente principale) e che sfida la tirannia degli stili. Sosteniamo le soluzioni creative ed insolite che affrontano gli architetti di oggi .
Kebyar è una parola di Balinese che significa letteralmente il processo di fioritura. Inoltre indica uno stile nella musica di Balinese e nella resistenza e nel vigore connotante di arte. L'architetto di fama internazionale Bruce Goff ha scelto Kebyar come il nome per una scuola delle arti e dell'architettura creativa che stava progettando ai tempi della sua morte.
Gli scopi degli organizzatori sono di promuovere l'architettura organica creativa, di portare l'attenzione sui lavori degli artisti originali e consolidare la formazione sugli architetti che li hanno preceduti che hanno lavorato in modo da liberare la loro arte dagli idiomi negativi in modo da liberare nuovi significati di integrità e rispetto per l'ambiente naturale.
A tale scopo, Friends of Kebyar pubblica un giornale che documentano i lavori di molti architetti selezionati, patrocina una serie di celebrazioni e simposi ed ora pubblica un bollettino che fornisce un mezzo per un colloquio della rete. Kebyar inoltre pubblica un indice della rete, per uso degli abbonati soltanto, con i nomi tutti di quelli che desiderano comunicare all'interno del sistema della rete di Kebyar. Questo Web site inoltre ha un indice degli abbonati con i collegamenti agli individui, compreso l' URL di Web site ed E-mail. È significativo vedere il lavoro di altri abbonati e sviluppare la Comunità. L'inclusione nell'indice di Web site ora è un beneficio dell'abbonamento di Kebyar.
Fondato nel mese di gennaio del 1983, Friends of Kebyar ha ora più di 20 anni. In giugno del 1983 una celebrazione sui lavori di Bruce Goff è stata tenuta in Oklahoma , comprendendo anche un giro dei suoi lavori (la abbiamo denominata celebrazione I). In 1988 Amici di Kebyar ha patrocinato la celebrazione II, situata a Los Angeles in occasione dell'apertura di Bruce Goff Pavilion per l'arte giapponese al museo della contea di Los Angeles. In giugno, del 1990 gli Amici di Kebyar hanno patrocinato la celebrazione III, un simposio intitolato avvicinandosi al nuovo millennio : Il futuro dell'architettura organica, è stato situato in Chicago che coincide con (e che celebra) le date di nascita di Frank Lloyd Wright e Bruce Goff. E' durato quattro giorni. L'architetto canadese Douglas Cardinal ha trasportato l'indirizzo principale alla fondazione di Graham. In 1991 abbiamo completato le celebrazioni IV, un altro simposio il 19 agosto da 14 patrocinato insieme dall'istituto di San Francisco di architettura ed Amici di Kebyar in Berkeley. La celebrazione V si è presentata in Chicago in occasione dell'esposizione retrospettiva di Bruce Goff all'istituto giugno 8-11 1995 di arte dI Chicago. Una ricezione, un simposio e le riunioni sono stati patrocinati da Kebyar alla fondazione di Graham per quell'evento. L'architetto Arthur Dyson della California era il nostro relatore principale. Vari giri architettonici erano programmati , compreso un viaggio a Taliesin la domenica 11 giugno. Un catalogo dell'esposizione di Goff ora è disponibile per l'acquisto all'istituto di arte di Chicago. Ancora, FOK è dedicato allo studio e compartecipazione delle idee , ad istruire, all'ispirare ed all'infondere nel cuore stesso dell'individuo il desiderio e l'azione di cogliere la creatività, l'immaginazione e l'invenzione che si genera dentro di noi nella nostra incessante e gioiosa ricerca . Friends of Kebyar chiede che i collegamenti agli URL personali siano costanti con la nostra politica di presentare, pubblicare e promuovere le iniziative di architettura, dell'arte e del disegno che dimostrano ed ispirano lo spirito creativo dell'individuo.

Friends of Kebyar is an Oregon non-profit corporation and an international network of people interested in original and innovative architecture that is not “mainstream” - architecture that defies the tyranny of styles. We advocate creative and unusual solutions to the challenges facing today’s architects.
Kebyar is a Balinese word literally meaning the process of flowering . It also designates a style in Balinese music and art connoting strength and vigor. Internationally famed architect Bruce Goff chose Kebyar as the name for a school of creative arts and architecture he was planning at the time of his death.
The organization’s purposes are to advance creative organic architecture, to bring attention to the works of original artists, and to nurture the spiritual endowment left by the architects that have preceded us who worked so hard to free their art from the indolent idioms of fashion and imbue it with new meaning, integrity, and respect for the natural environment. To that end, Friends of Kebyar publishes a journal documenting the works of many selected architects, sponsors a series of “celebration-gatherings” and symposiums, and now publishes a newsletter which provides a medium for a network colloquy. Kebyar also publishes a Network Directory, for use of subscribers only, with the names of all those wishing to communicate within the Kebyar Network system. This Web Site also has a Directory of Fellow Subscribers with hot links to individuals, including e-mail and Web Site URL. It is a way to see the work of other subscribers and build community. Inclusion in the Web Site Directory is now a benefit of Kebyar subscription.
Founded in January 1983, Kebyar is now over 19 years old. In June, 1983 a celebration of the life and works of Bruce Goff was held in Oklahoma ranging over the State and touring his works (we called it Celebration I). In 1988 Friends of Kebyar sponsored Celebration II, located in Los Angeles on the occasion of the opening of Bruce Goff’s Pavilion for Japanese art at LA County Museum. In June, 1990 Friends of Kebyar sponsored Celebration III, a symposium entitled Approaching the New Millennium; The Future of Organic Architecture, It was located in Chicago coinciding with (and celebrating) the birth dates of Frank Lloyd Wright and Bruce Goff. It lasted four days. Canadian architect Douglas Cardinal delivered the keynote address at the Graham Foundation. In 1991 we completed Celebration IV, another symposium on August 14 through 19 sponsored jointly by the San Francisco Institute of Architecture and Friends of Kebyar in Berkeley. Celebration V occurred in Chicago on the occasion of the Bruce Goff retrospective exhibit at the Chicago Art Institute June 8-11, 1995. A reception, symposium, and meetings were sponsored by Kebyar at the Graham Foundation for that event. California architect Arthur Dyson was our keynote speaker. Various architectural tours were suggested (maps furnished) ending in a trip to Taliesin (by invitation) on Sunday, June 11th. A catalog of the Goff exhibit is now available for purchase at the The Art Institute of Chicago.
For additional information, read the feature on organic architecture in the June 1993 issue of Progressive Architecture which includes information about our publications and network, or the 1994 November-December Issue of the British journal Architectural Design which published an article on organic architects with much material furnished by Friends of Kebyar, or the November, 1990 issue of Fine Homebuilding magazine. Kebyar was also mentioned in the French review Techniques et Architechures (#381 Dec-Jan 88-89). A major feature on Kebyar appeared in the Japanese Journal A+U Architecture & Urbanism in March 1985. A recent feature on organic architecture appears in the October-December 1997 issue of Hot Air magazine, a British publication.
